The beaches in the wider area of Scaletta begin 11km east of Rethymno and extend up to 3km east, forming the last part of the vast beach of Rethymnon bay. At 11km there is the beach Sfakaki immediately after Pigianos Kampos. Then, after 1km you will come across Stavromenos, so called by the settlement of the area. Before the end of the large bay of Rethymnon, Scaletta beach is found.
The beaches are generally sandy and very well organized, with a few points that have pebbles and rocks. As you go east, towards Scaletta, the beach becomes narrower with less sand.
Like all beaches, they are open to the winds and they are usually wavy.
