Vai, or more specifically the palm forest of Vai is one of the most popular attractions in Crete and at the same time one of the most beautiful and special places in the entire Mediterranean. Vai attracts thousands of visitors every year not only for the beautiful palm trees, but also for its long sandy beach that stretches in front.
Today it is considered one of the most beautiful locations in Crete and the beach brinsg the Blue Flag of the European Union.
Vai is located 24km east of Sitia and about 6km from Palaecastro. The palm forest of Vai currently occupies an area of about 250 acres and is the largest palm grove in Europe.
